CB650 Cafe Racer Custom Build

When you dream of getting down and dirty while building something incredible, something incredible usually will happen. This custom built CB650 cafe racer is the product of hard work and ingenuity at the Ugly Motorbikes workshop in California. Over the course of a year Ugly Motorbikes designed and built this manly marvel and have put its process on the web for all to follow(just click the picture). In honor of this beauty I have bought a CB650 for $200 and started the process of breaking down and rebuilding it in an attempt to add to my own reserve of manly toys.

Honda CB750

If you've ever dreamt of going fast on an old cafe racer through the salt Plato's, you'd probably be me. None the less, this I a redone bike by a Dutch college kid which has stolen my heart. It was built off of an original Honda CB 750 and cost him only about $650 total. I don't know about you, but I found my summer project.

Most of the time we’ll flip on a movie to relax and zone out for a bit. We’ll watch something with a sweet car chase or a sexy female lead to kill a couple of hours. There are occasions, however, when we want to learn something when we break out the popcorn. That said, it doesn’t mean the film has to be boring. These are 10 documentaries every guy should see.

1. Dogtown and Z Boys

3. Exit Through the Gift Shop

You can debate all you want whether this is a legit documentary or not, we’ll side with putting it on this list for the simple fact that it could be and it’s awesome. 4. Senna

Your palms are gonna sweat like you were actually driving an F1 race car while watching Senna. The life of Ayrton Senna, which is chronicled in the film, was crazy, exciting and, at all times, insanely fast. 5. Brother’s Keeper

6. The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

Watching your friend play video games can be insanely boring. That is exactly what makes this movie so impressive. The King of Kong depicts the fight for high score supremacy in Donkey Kong back in the early 80’s. It’s as entertaining to watch as going to the arcade back in the day. 7. Jiro Dreams of Sushi

This is easily the best movie about raw fish ever made. Jiro Dreams of Sushi tells the story of the world’s greatest sushi chef – A little old man with a restaurant in the basement of an office building. 8. Murderball

Any sport that has the word “murder” in the title is legit. This look into the world of paraplegic rugby players is both eye-opening and exciting. Don’t think it’s just some inspirational story though, Murderball is chock-full of sex, anger and grittiness. Netflix DVD

9. Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap

“We wanted to hit everyone across the head with a sledgehammer.” That’s just one of the lines from a movie featuring some of the greatest rap lyricists ever. 10. Paradise Lost – The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills

For all you fright finders and scare searchers here is a great way to spend your Halloween after you fill your stomach with government subsidized candy. This is a quality list of some of the scariest movies you've never scene... and now you will. I also have to add the Collector to the list and Funny Games purely on principle.

McIntosh McAire

     

Nope, it's not a new low-calorie menu item from McDonalds — although they could probably stand to introduce such a thing. The McIntosh McAire ($TBA) is a standalone speaker system designed to let you enjoy your media wirelessly via AirPlay. The unit includes both Wi-Fi and Ethernet hookups, as well as a USB port for charging and an RCA input for non-AirPlay devices, but its the dual 4-inch woofers, 2-inch midranges, and .75-inch tweeters that are the star of the show, along with the unit's classic, premium looks.

Alien Bar

   

We can certainly think of more pleasant places to have a drink, but if you like your beer dark and your aliens scary, make a visit to the HR Giger Museum Bar. Designed by Giger himself, the bar's space recalls an ancient castle, but is covered in the skeletal designs he made famous when creating the monster from Alien and its environment. If you have a thing for rock, cigarettes and twins, then you have to listen to the Weeks. After falling in love with their music back in 2008 with Comeback Cadillac I decided, in anticipation of their new release Gutter Gaunt Gangster, to trek down south to Nashville from NYC and watch them play. Although I couldn't have stood out more, I sat in the back of 12th and Porter in a pink collard shirt drinking whiskey neat and loving every minute of the music, skinny jeans, cigarette's and beards. These guys are incredible and although you can hear a little of Caleb's southern twang in some of there lyrics they have a cool new sound and its refreshing. I'd say they're in the Aha Shake Heartbreak phase of their music... hopefully they keep it coming. Please, if you do anything for yourself today check out their album. The Jammy

    If you are one of those people always in the now and always changing styles, then you'd know how much of fashion and technologies these days are based off of old concepts and designs.    In honor of my personal hero, Steve Jobs, I will be posting about the last know apple product that Mr. Jobs had a hand in designing.  whether white or black the price will most likely range 16gb (199), 32gb (299) and 64gb (399). Each phone will most likely have a 4 inch screen according to rumors and will be much faster. I; however, believe that there are going to be many great updates to the phone that we haven't found out about yet. I hope Mr. Jobs wows us with his last product, It would really give a good ending to such a great mans legacy.

1966 Shelby 427 Cobra

Anything attached to Carroll Shelby’s name is immediately worth your time. With an insane power-to-weight ratio, the Shelby 427 Cobra has a bit more giddyup than your Corolla. Plus, the hundreds of thousands of dollars you’d pay for one will seem like chump change compared to the $5.5 million shelled out for the ’66 Shelby 427 Cobra Super Snake.

1961 Jaguar E-Type

Whether you pronounce it Jagwar or Jag-u-ar, everyone agrees the brand oozes style. The E-Type was released in 1961 to some pretty heavy praise. If Enzo Ferrari referred to it as, “The most beautiful car ever made,” well, that’s good enough for us.

1969 Maserati Ghibli 4.7

The aggressive shark-shaped nose on the Maserati Ghibli is enough to place it firmly on this list. Plus, the Maserati name earns it plenty of clout. Basically, this car is what the Mazda Miata dreams of becoming as it falls asleep at night.

1964 Aston Martin DB5

If it’s cool enough for Bond, it’s cool enough for us. If you had to pick one vehicle that James Bond relied on the most, you’d be hard-pressed not to go with the DB5, and the one from Goldfinger would look pretty sweet in our garage next to the cans of beer and lawn care products.

1957 Mercedes 300SL Gullwing

The doors are only part of the reason this is one of the coolest cars to ever hit the pavement. The fact that the 300SL was the fastest production car at the time, means driving to your ad meetings in Manhattan wouldn’t be a bore.

1969 Boss 429 Mustang

You know you’re getting some sick power when they have to change the body of a Mustang just to accommodate your freakishly large engine. How could you not want to roll down the windows and listen to that sucker as you were cruising around? (Which would be a good idea since, due to the size of the engine, they couldn’t fit in any air conditioning.)

1963 Corvette Sting Ray

While nothing was wrong with the Corvette prior to ’63, when the Sting Ray rolled out it made the previous models look like chopped liver (fast & still somewhat attractive chopped liver). Besides the new look, the C2 Corvette was a bit lighter and handled far better than its predecessors. While some nice stylistic changes would be made in the coming years, there’s something about being first.

1969 Ferrari Dino 246 GT

Far too often cars are rigid. The lines and angles are harsh and, unless there’s something crazy under the hood, they become a complete clone of something else. The soft lines on the Ferrari Dino 246 GT tells us this car is meant to be driven fast and playfully. If we had one, we’d oblige.

1966 Alfa Romeo Spider Duetto

Something about this car just makes us want to drive the Italian countryside while occasionally stopping to drink local wines. Plus, any time you can get a car with style AND storage space, well you just hit the jackpot my friend. It’s perfect for storing all the sheets of paper with phone numbers on them.

1969 Dodge Charger

If there’s one thing we know about the ’69 Charger, it’s aerodynamic. At least that’s what we learned from Bo and Luke Duke. The ’69 Charger is a thing of beauty whether it’s a General Lee or not. It may never get the billing its Mustang counterparts always do, but the fastback look and all American style will never go out of fashion.

1966 Lamborghini Miura

We don’t know if it’s the most stylish car on the list, but as far as cred goes, well it inspired the whole “Let’s toss a couple of seats on a rocket” sports car idea. It also became a new and different Italian sports car option outside of the Ferrari’s of the world for auto enthusiasts at the time.

1969 Toyota 2000GT

If you’re noticing a small Bond theme here, you’re totally right. While Bond got a drop-top, the ’69 Toyota 2000GT was stylish enough without one being offered up from the factory. The elongated front, along with the design in general, makes it feel much more like an Italian roadster than something you would picture purchasing for its “dependable gas mileage.”

1962 Ferrari 250 GTE

The Ferrari 250 GTE was the sports car for the family man. It was for the guy who wanted a Ferrari but also wanted to get little Timmy to hockey practice with all his gear. As Road & Track said, “A not only grand, but glorious, touring car.” We’d tack on cool as well.

1970 Datsun 240Z

The Jaguar E-Type’s Asian doppelgänger has the same beautiful look as the Jag with perhaps more brains underneath. The thought that went into the car became the hallmark of Japanese sports cars. See, being cool doesn’t just mean looking good (but it mostly means looking good).

1969 Chevrolet Camaro

It was pretty much a foregone conclusion that this list would include at least one Mustang and one Camaro. What can we say, we like old-school American muscle power. Seeing those white stripes on a blue Z28 just strikes us as quintessentially cool.
